I watch this video from 60minutes. It's about a boy how has some sort of autistic disorder ( they use another word which is not autistic but I don't know that word). He can hardly communicate with other, do some basic stuff such as walking around his apartment, wearing his shoe. However, when it come to playing piano, he is a genius. Even though, he is blind or has vision disability, he don't have to read a note from music sheet. He just improvise what he hear. This ability is amazing. Now, his teacher is trying to teach him how to improvise and compose the music which I think that it's all about using creativity. So this raise a question in my head about creativity. Do people need to have fully function brain to be creative? The answer is no but what really make us creative is still a question.
Another interesting thing is the story is that this kid can compose music but he doesn't have any real emotion connection with the music or I can say that his music is just a music without any message or meaning. This is the result from his experience, I think. He cannot communicate well, cannot control or demonstrate his emotion like other can. So it reflects in his work. Anyway, I still think that is boy is so gifted and there is nothing that human cannot do if we really give it a try.

Great inspiring presentation!
I accidentally stepped upon this presentation. It was very great in terms of content, story telling, visual. Everything is great. And it also fun to watch even though it has almost 100 slides but I clicked though it in one shot.

Creativity at Ideo!
I saw this video yesterday. It was very interesting to learn about how do company try to foster creativity. Tim Brown, CEO of Ideo, has a very unique concept of creativity. He demonstrated various ways to make our creativity juice running and how do designer or creative guy trying to find ideas or testing ideas. They do something that normal people think it's just stuff for kid such as prototyping product from stuff that you find on your desk such as maker, clip to communicate with customer, role playing when you need to design a service process, imitate what happen in the real world with your simple prop at your office like using chairs to create rigid sleeping space in the airplane. These are all great ideas that we can learn and adapt with whatever, we are going to do in the future

Happinest Place in The World
Today, I'm very in to the 60 Minutes. I found this TV program is very insightful and the topics that they talk about are very interesting and cover wide variety of perspective from sciences, politics, news, current affairs, etc. Maybe, I'll be a fan of this program from now on.
I just finished watching this video. It talks about why do Dens are the most happy people in the world. I feel that it's quite intriguing and opens me to a new perspective about living a life in this world. Low expectation or what they call realistic expectation and non-materialistic are the key reason that make Dens happy. It almost contradicts to the American dreams which you need to have everything, being the best to be success. However, that success has its own price, it make you to want to have more and more and ultimately feel miserably if you don't know where is your limit on greed and money. I think that most people don't know their limit. The more that you have leads to the more that you want. Human want is infinity.
Although, this video shows a lot of bright side but I'm curious about Den's strengths in terms of economy because if you have low expectation, you have less competitiveness in your mind. How can you achieve in the highly dynamic global business. Also, Denmark government set the tax to be at 50% which is extremely high. How can business grow in that such environment when you need to pay half of your profit to support others. So there must be something in the study that left behind. Maybe Denmark is more fortune than other countries. I don't know. But at least, it's good see that there is one country that is happy in the world.

Talking to the Artist = Talking with People from different planet
Yesterday, I had a chance to go to Artspace where artists can work publicly and interact with audience during their creative process. I listened to one of the artists there. She is a designer plus graphic design plus graduate student in industrial design. The main focus of the talk is on her creation project. We discussed about what is her inspiration, how can she create her work, what does it mean and why her work come out that way. It was a good time to learn from the artist since I haven't had many chances to talk to this kind of people.
I learn that she read, write, listen A LOT and everything around her can become her inspiration to create her work. ( It seems like she is super hyperactive when she talk) My background is in engineering and science so I'm not really understand how the art work because I may view things around me too realistically, maybe. I haven't see thing like she did. I don't really understand how can she do that. How can she think about her work all the time. On the other hand, I can see that she have tons of passion and inspiration to do her job which I think it's the best thing in the world to have. If you know that you really want to do something, you will not want to stop doing it. You want it to be the greatest thing. The most important thing is that you are happy doing it all the time.
I haven't had that passion for such a long long time. I have my school works and I finish them before time but that doesn't give me any feeling of happy or proudness. I don't know. Maybe, I lost my passion on school. I know that when I first got a work ( a report, presentation, paper). I'll try to get it don't as soon as possible since I don't want it to be on my way for so long. After I finished those taskes, I get a sense of success. At least, I get it done but I haven't had passion or joy in doing it like the artists do their work. I curious how can I find that feeling.
So I think Artists who know what they are doing are people for different planet who are happy. I hope that one day, I will be able to understand them and find my own passion to do the work.
